Rapid Ferritin (iron) test

Iron deficiency is a condition where the body lacks enough iron, a vital mineral needed to produce haemoglobin—a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. Without enough iron, the body can’t make enough healthy red blood cells, which leads to reduced oxygen delivery to tissues. This can cause symptoms like hair loss, hair thinning, fatigue, weakness, pale skin, shortness of breath, dizziness, and headaches.

One of the solutions to an iron deficiency is an IV iron infusion. We can only offer this to our patients if a low iron level is demonstrated by a blood test. If you have recent relevant blood test or a referral from another Doctor then we will not need to take another one.

The Rapid Ferritin test is a test that takes only 15 minutes and involves a drop of blood from a finger prick and we analyse this straight away. You can then identify your ferritin levels, an important part of determining of you have an iron deficiency.
