Key Ingredients

  • 1 Litre of Normal Saline
Vitamin C 25g vials (larger doses available on request)

Our high dose Vitamin C drip is administered by one of our highly trained Doctors or Nurses. You can book a home appointment or come into our Soho clinic for your treatment.

Vitamin C is crucial to a healthy body and contributes to your immune defence by supporting and directly stimulating various cellular functions of both the innate and adaptive immune systems. The standard dosage of this drip is 25g, which is equivalent to nearly two tubes of Berocca.

If you would like higher doses of Vitamin C each 25g vial is £50 extra.

It would be unsafe to administer doses above 10g of Vitamin C if you were deficient in the enzyme G6PD. Depending on your race the incidence of deficiency varies but in certain races, it reaches a prevalence of 1 in 100. It is therefore essential that a G6PD blood test result is obtained prior to administrating any dose larger than 7.5g. This test need only be done once in your life. If you do not have this blood test in your medical records we can take it for you and if you wish, at the same time give you a 7.5g dose of Vitamin C. If the test result is normal further treatment at larger doses can be proceeded with.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is the role of Vitamin C in the body?
    • Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues. It’s involved in many body functions, including the formation of collagen, absorption of iron, the proper functioning of the immune system, wound healing, and the maintenance of cartilage, bones, and teeth.

Vitamin C is one of many antioxidants that can protect against damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals, as well as toxic chemicals and pollutants like cigarette smoke. Free radicals can build up and contribute to the development of health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and arthritis.

Vitamin C is water-soluble, and the body does not store it. Therefore, to maintain adequate levels of vitamin C you need a daily intake. This can come from foods, but it is also why supplements such as tablets and Vitamin C IV Drips are so popular and effective.

  • Can Vitamin C help with Iron Deficiency?
    • Iron is an important nutrient that has a variety of functions in the body. It’s essential for making red blood cells and transporting oxygen throughout the body. Vitamin C supplements can help improve the absorption of iron from the diet. Vitamin C assists in converting iron that is poorly absorbed, such as plant-based sources of iron, into a form that is easier to absorb.

This is especially useful for people on a meat-free diet, as meat is a major source of iron. In fact, a study found that simply consuming 100 mg of vitamin C may improve iron absorption by 67%. As a result, vitamin C may help reduce the risk of anaemia among people prone to iron deficiency.

  • Can Vitamin C support Eye Health?
    • Vitamin C helps protect against oxidative damage. Oxidative damage is a key factor in two of the most common age-related cataracts: cortical and nuclear cataracts. Cortical cataracts develop on the edges of the lens, while nuclear cataracts occur deep in its centre or “nucleus.”

A 2016 study found that participants who reported consuming more vitamin C showed a 33% reduction in the risk of cataract progression. They also had clearer lenses overall.
