If you have a deficiency in the G6PD enzyme, it can be unsafe to administer doses of Vitamin C above 10g. The prevalence of G6PD deficiency varies depending on your race, with certain races experiencing a prevalence of 1 in 100.
To ensure safety, it is crucial to obtain a G6PD blood test result before administering any dose larger than 7.5g of Vitamin C. This blood test only needs to be done once in your lifetime.
If you don't have a G6PD blood test in your medical records, we can conduct the test for you. At the same time, if desired, we can administer a 7.5g dose of Vitamin C. If the test result is normal, further treatment at larger doses can be pursued.

For low doses of Vitamin C, there are typically no side effects. For higher doses (25g and above), there can be some side effects such as nausea and slight discomfort at the IV insertion site.
We mitigate these risks by slow administration and anti-sickness medication if needed. A G6PD blood test is required prior to receiving high doses.
