Dr Drew Provan

Dr Drew Provan is a senior Consultant Haematologist specialising in immune haematology, anaemia, iron deficiency and complex blood disorders, with extensive clinical, academic and international experience.

Dr Drew Provan is a senior Consultant Haematologist with extensive experience in complex and immune-mediated haematological disorders. He trained in the UK and at Harvard Medical School and has held senior clinical and academic positions at Barts and The London School of Medicine and the Royal London Hospital.

His particular areas of expertise include immune haematology, iron deficiency and anaemia, cytopenias, platelet disorders and the investigation of unexplained abnormalities in the blood count. He has extensive experience in the assessment of patients where symptoms or abnormal blood results require a more detailed haematological evaluation.

Dr Provan is internationally recognised for his contribution to haematology education and research. He has authored and edited more than 100 medical publications and books and has lectured internationally, including extensively in the Middle East and Qatar. He is also an editor and author of major Oxford medical reference works, including the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Haematology.

At Effect Doctors, Dr Provan provides senior specialist haematological input for patients with anaemia, iron deficiency, abnormal blood counts and more complex or unexplained haematological findings. Where appropriate, he can work alongside a senior Consultant Immunologist to provide an integrated assessment of patients with recurrent infections or possible underlying immune dysfunction.

Dr Provan brings a depth of specialist knowledge to Effect Doctors, supporting our approach of combining detailed investigation with personalised clinical assessment, particularly where straightforward blood-test results do not fully explain a patient’s symptoms or clinical picture.
