Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Effect Doctors and Mitmark Health are thrilled to provide medical grade Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) , designed for 100% oxygen purity and pressure consistency. We have a hard shell chamber, able to deliver pressures up to 2 atmospheres while breathing in 100% pure oxygen. Guided by leading hyperbaric doctors, it can offer smart health optimisation protocols for exercise recovery, anti-inflammatory benefits, cellular rejuvenation, improved sleep, enhanced mental focus, and memory.
HBOT can offer numerous health benefits. Exposing the body to pure oxygen at increased pressure can accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and enhance the natural healing processes. HBOT therapy can promote new blood vessel formation, improve circulation, and boost immune function.
Additionally, it supports cognitive function, increases energy, and enhances overall well-being. Whether for sports recovery, wound healing, or medical conditions, HBOT therapy is a versatile and effective treatment with many potential benefits.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Our HBOT takes place inside a purpose built medical grade solid steel chamber. During the treatment your body is pressurised up double the normal atmospheric pressure (2 atmospheres). You breathe in 100% pure oxygen via an oxygen mask. The experience itself consists of relaxing in the chamber and simply taking deep breaths. Many people have a sleep, listen to a podcast or watch a film.
How does hyperbaric oxygen therapy work?
HBOT increases the concentration of oxygen in the blood and gives the body's tissues a boost in terms of exposure to oxygen rich blood plasma. This enables damaged tissues to heal much more quickly and reduces inflammation.
It also has a benefit in terms of strengthening the immune system since increased oxygen concentrations can help the body resist infection. HBOT has also been shown to increase the production of collagen and new skin cells.
What are other benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Another benefit of hyperbaric oxygen therapy is recovery. Due to the anti-inflammatory, cell-repairing and pain-reduction benefits of the treatment, HBOT therapy may be particularly effective for those recovering from surgery or injury. It also has enhancement benefits of its own, which can range from mood-enhancement to improved mental clarity, as well as offering a rejuvenated appearance due to increased collagen levels and skin renewal.
Are there any side effects to having HBOT therapy?
As part of our consultation, Effect Doctors will ask for a detailed medical history and discuss any potential side effects before therapy takes place. Due to the pressurised environment in the hyperbaric chamber, the most common side effects are associated with the middle ear, which may lead to pain or the feeling that your ears need to pop. However if there is any pain we can immediately reduce the pressure to enable equalisation to occur.
Shortly after treatment, some people may experience fatigue, claustrophobia, headaches, or feeling light-headed. Such symptoms are normally short-lived. In rare instances, there may be a risk of eye or lung damage.
Is hyperbaric therapy suitable for everyone?
Depending on your medical history, we may advise against HBOT therapy at the clinical assessment stage of the programme. Anyone who has a history of ear problems, collapsed lung or recent lung surgery may not be suitable for the therapy, as may those with panic disorders or claustrophobia. Effect Doctors are medically qualified professionals and advise a full and rigorous assessment before undertaking any kind of medical procedure.
